LOST IN BAZAARS
Beyoglu is full of markets selling artefacts from the 1930s and 1940s but it is even more interesting to stroll through the streets off the Golden Horn in Eminönü to the Grand Bazaar. Here I could easily get lost. In the streets I find leather coats, gold rings, necklaces of all kinds, silks and pashminas, carpets and alarm clocks in the shape of mosques. Smaller and more manageable is the Egyptian market near the Galata Bridge, where I buy tea and Turkish coffee and some fine tea glasses to bring home.

IRMA arrives in Istanbul for a weekend with friends

Whenever I travel to a city  I have not been to before I will make sure to spend the first night in a restaurant with a stunning view.
My choice in Istanbul is 360 Istanbul, the poshest New Ottoman restaurant in the bohemian quarter Beyoglu. The place is packed every night with visiting supermodels and their oglers and of course the view is the best in town.

I just got back from Art Basel where I looked at a lot of art and people. My favorite piece is by Jack Pierson, the installation ROMANCE which he made in 2009 and showed at Art Unlimited a couple of days ago in Basel.

I like my vintage Marni summer dresses and I will always hang on to them because the older they get the more value they have.
Inspired by my dress, I travel to Stockholm to look at designs by Josef Frank, the late architect and interior designer who created patterns with vegetables and tropical birds and whose aesthetic rules are typical for Scandinavian design. His furniture and fabrics have been produced for more than 80 years by Stockholm-based Svenskt Tenn.

Dutch-born designer Michael van der Ham incorporates shapes from different decades in fashion, using clashing textures, prints and colours to further the collage effect. I noticed him last year at the London Fashion Week and whenever I have the chance to wear an oustanding dress, I pick one of my collage dresses.

All you need to add to a strong summer print are dark and heavy eyebrows.
